When I was little, one of my favourite books was called Socks. It was a story about a little kitten named Socks whose siblings were all black. Socks was the only baby born with white feet. Well, he felt bad because he was different, found an inkwell, dipped his feet in and was, all of a sudden, just like his brothers and sisters. Eventually, he discovered that is was OK to be different and embraced his socks. Right now at our shelter we have a fabulous little girl named Socks, who also has white feet. She is very proud of her appearance and rightly so. Socks joined us July 6, 2009, and is approximately 1 1/2 years old. After meeting Socks for the first time, she strutted out of her cage, into my arms and acted as if she had always been there. She’s a real sweetie!!!
