Axelrod

axelrod-3-26-09-4I just wanted to let you know that Axel Rod is quite at home with me.  He is very cuddly especially at night as he snuggles with me on the couch and in bed as I am going to sleep.  He does not like when I go to work in the morning as he tries to keep me from going out the front door.  Axel plays happily with his toys and is eating like there is no tomorrow (just like any young man he likes to eat).  Axel likes the 3 levels of my house and can be found on any of the levels playing and running around.

He a wonderful addition to my house and gives me many moments of laughter as I watch him tear through the house one minute and collapse on the back of the couch the next.

Bijou

bijou-melissa-12-20-08Hi Ellen

Unfortunately I have no way of sending a picture as I have no camera or webcam or anything. (This picture was taken while Bijou resided at Animal Aide).  But Lady is doing fine…yes we changed her name.  My mom (63) just could never remember the name Bijou or get it right, always saying bonjour.  But more on her name change later.

Lady is the center of our life and rules the apartment.  Her favourite place when she is not sitting in the sun in the big living room window is sprawled out on the back of my mom’s chair.  She looks like a lioness just lazing there.  But we don’t let her docile sleepy pose fool us..oh no…for in just a second she can turn into a speedy puma racing to her food dish to take a nibble on her latest prey (whiskas formula for indoor cats).

Police Academy 6: City Under Siege release Her day starts with me as I get up around 6:30 in the morning.  She happily spreads herself out on the floor to let me pet and cuddle her and to groom her with the pet brush.  She does this solely for my benefit of course as she knows she does not really need her humans but that we would simply perish without her attention.

This ritual completed she then decides to sit in the window and watch the sun rise while keeping an ever alert eye out for ne’er-do-well squirrels and birds in the front yard.  You just can’t tell what is going on in the minds of those sneaky squirrels you know.

She remains on constant alert until about 9:00 which is when all the little humans have entered the school across the street.  The apartment now deemed safe, and my mother awake and in her chair, Lady trots off to the linen closet to sleep on the folded towels.

Her day is varied but of course her inner puma must make herself known a few times a day.  At first this was a concern for us as she tears through the wilderness…I mean apartment….at quite a high speed and quite noisily (trying to give intruders advanced warning so she doesn’t have to worry about actually fighting).  My mother insists at these times that she walk like a lady and be quiet.  Lady of course obliges for several seconds then does a flip and tears off in the other direction, a slave to her inner puma.  (This is how her name went from Bijou to Lady)

By the end of the day we are all happy.  I have written more on my stories, my mother has gleaned knowledge from the documentaries on tv, and Lady has once again maintained a safe environment for her humans.  As we drift off to sleep, Lady makes one more circuit of the apartment in her puma form then settles down to prepare for an exhausting day tomorrow.

Calley

Remember that girl in high school who couldn’t get along with any of her classmates. Oh, come on….there was one in every grade. The girl that butter would melt in her mouth when she was around adults and teachers but put her among her peers and ….watch out!!! Calley is just that girl. She loves people, enjoys a good cuddle and a pet but get her close to another cat and the hissies come out to play. Calley joined us May 7, 2009, at the tender age of 7 months.  If it is a cuddle-bum you are looking for and you are only planning on having one cat….you couldn’t go wrong with Calley. Check her out at 333 Talbot St., St. Thomas, 519-633-3788 or e-mail us.
