Donna,
This is an update on Pumpkin, the lucky young fella who came home with Gary and Yvonne on Jan17, 2009. He has been a treasured addition to our home and has settled in just like we had hoped he would. He has found friends in the two dogs, Princess (black lab), Okie (sheperd mix), Max, (large grey&white cat) and Boots (smaller black, grey and white).
It only took a day for them to all settle in and get to know each other and there was no trouble from anyone, although Pumpkin was a little nervous around the dogs, he took the lead from his fellow brothers and learned not to be afraid of the big dogs, and to stand his ground.
He has found his legs and loves his freedom of being able to roam 3 floors, playing and running, chasing, eating when he wants, and sleeping with whomever he chooses. He is still purring like a Harley, and loves his cuddles, which I am most happy to give him every chance I can. I love it when I call his name, he comes running ready to be picked up and cuddled.
He is curious and loves to investigate things every chance he can. He even managed to get himself shut in the fridge by accident. He was that quick, that when I had gone in the fridge to get something he had jumped in without me knowing, until my husband and I heard this faint meowing, and followed the sound, and there he was in the fridge. He had only been in there a minute or two, but surprised us both, as none of the other cats had ever tried that, needless to say we are more cautious now and watch and check before closing the fridge door.
He has had his first cat nip and enclosed are pictures of him and boots sampling a small amount and fighting over the dish. I guess it is safe to assume he likes it. I am glad we made the trip that day and chose him. We will continue to send you updates and pictures.
Thank you again for the wonderful work you are doing for giving us Pumpkin, enjoy the pictures.
Regards,
Yvonne and Gary

Hi Ellen,
You had sent an email to my husband in regards to an update on Pumpkin. We did send updates to Donna, but I have no problem giving you guys a more up to date report on Mr. Pumpkin. He has certainly made himself at home, with the two other cats Max and Boots, and has made himself known to the Dogs, Princess and Okie. He spends his time sleeping, eating and play fighting, and when he has a chance he torments the dogs by stealing their beds. He has fit into our home with no problems, and has made himself a home not only in our house but our hearts. He is doing very well, gaining weight and loving his freedom to roam 3 stories and sleeping on soft beds and comforters and blankets. He still purrs very loudly when you rub his belly. He has found out that toilet paper is fun to play with when it is on the roller, and that soap suds are not to be trusted as he whacks at the soap suds after we wash our hands or do the dishes. He is trying to figure everything out, but has not forgotten that he is still a kitten, and has loads of time to explore. We love him to bits and have included some current photo’s of him for you.
Will update you again in a few months.

Update November 27, 2009
Donna,
Just wanted to give you an update on Pumpkin. He has just had his shots for the first time, and he is doing great. He weighs 13lbs, and is our entertainment. We have never met a cat who loves water like he does. He is right there when you are doing laundry, or dishes, he just has fascination with water. We recently rescued a 120 lb pure bred Rottweiler (4yrs old) and him and Pumpkin are best of friends. Thank you again for all you do for the animals.
Yvonne

My new parents have renamed me OLLY, I like my new name. I love my new home. I have lots of room to explore and hide and things to get into! I have four older brothers that I am getting along with. I have a good play pal in BUDDY who was homeless before moving here a few months before me.
There’s these three big animals (the dogs) that I am just not too sure about yet. I’m getting braver and closer every time! The wildlife outside is so fun to watch, I’ve seen lots of birds, squirrels, bunny rabbits and even the bigger, BIGGER animals – deer, four of them eating from the bird feeder. I can’t wait for spring to get here so I can watch for the arrival of all kinds of different birds and butterflies and bees even!
Well I better go, I need to take a cat nap after my long day of exploring.
Love Olly
