We would like you to meet Smokey. Smokey came to us on March 29, 2008, under very unusual circumstances. Smokey had spent his entire 11 years in a very loving home with a widow who adored him. In all that time, Smokey was an only pet and didn’t have much, if any, contact with children. He is neutered and declawed and truly loved his owner. Unfortunately for Smokey, she recently passed away and Smokey has been quite traumatized by her passing and by him losing the only home he has ever known. Smokey desperately needs a new home where he will not have to deal with other pets or young children. He needs someone who will give him the time to get used to his new surroundings and give him the chance to bond to someone new. Smokey would do best in a quiet home and would likely make a great companion, as he was to his previous owner. If you would like to meet Smokey, please come visit him at Animal Aide, 333 Talbot St, St. Thomas, call us at 519-633-3788 or send us an email.
Can you mend Smokey’s broken heart?
Everyone at Animal Aide would like to say a huge Thank You to Kara Brown and Ron Trampleasure! Since they first emailed me regarding adopting a cat a few months ago, they have made several donations to us, including office supplies, treats and food for the cats, paper for our printer, etc. They have also added PR by sending in a letter to the Free Press encouraging people to check us out and word of mouth at work, as well as including some PR through Facebook. They have now adopted not just one cat, but two. Animal Aide continues to be able to rescue abandoned animals because of the support of caring people like YOU!
Frodo and Sam travel to “Middle North”
One summer morning, newly arrived in St. Thomas from Victoria, B.C., I decided to stroll down to the Animal Rescue Centre on Talbot Street and there I found two wonderful additions to our feline family of three. Frodo and Claus (we changed his name to ‘Sam’) had been given to the Animal Rescue Centre by his former owners, who ironically, moved to British Columbia and couldn’t take them with them. Shortly after that, we moved from St. Thomas to North London, where we set up a safe and secure environment for our new family of five. We regretfully lost two of our elderly female members in 2007 and early 2008, so we now have a family of three, which is what we started out with when we arrived in Ontario in 2006. We love our ‘guys’ and we are joyful that we were able to take them in so that they stayed together as a set. We thank the dedicated and caring people who nurtured them at the St. Thomas Animal Rescue Centre, and appreciate the great job they do, looking after the stray and abandoned animals in their neighbourhood and beyond. We are so happy to have Frodo and Sam as part of our new Ontario family.
Sincerely,
Cheryl and Daniel
