This special girl is Tawnie. When Tawnie arrived at Animal Aide, she was very frightened. She had been born on the streets and lived there until she was an adult. Positive experiences with humans was probably something she had never known. At first, she would cling upside down to the top of her cage every time we reached in to scoop her litter or refill her food and water bowls. After working with this little girl, we discovered how much she truly wanted to be friends, maybe even more than she realized it herself.
Tawnie became a favourite of one of our volunteers, me, who ended up adopting Tawnie on March 2, 2005. With this adoption, Tawnie has become one of Animal Aide’s biggest success stories. She has come a long way from the frightened cat we first met. Tawnie has become a big suck! Everytime I sit at the computer, Tawnie wants up to cuddle. Tawnie will always be a small cat, given that she was likely born in the winter time. She is currently only 6lbs. I call her my perma-kitten because of her size. Tawnie lives with other felines and although she is little and by far the smallest, she is usually the bully during playtimes.
She has the cutest meow and is desperately trying to figure out how the light switch in the bedroom works and I am convinced that she will one day figure it out. Tawnie is a happy cat and has made herself a real important member of my family. If you are looking to expand your family with a feline friend, please don’t bypass a cat because it was born feral. Even a feral adult (such as Tawnie), can become a very loving, cuddle-cat. All they need is a chance.
This is one gentleman that has not let living on the streets affect his purrsonality, nor warped his judgment of people. Lincoln has been out there for a long time and has the battle wounds to prove it. However, sympathy is not what this guy is looking for. Lincoln became part of our family at the approximate age of 8 years, on May 11, 2007. We believe he is proud of those battle wounds and they certainly give him character. Part of this guy’s charm is his ability to go with the flow. Lincoln has a strong will to live and a huge heart for people. Lincoln loves affection and has no problem asking for it. When he has his free time outside the cage, he loves to lie on the desk and rub into everyone, hoping that someone will pet him. Lincoln is an older gentleman who would be very unlikely to jump up on ornament shelves and break things. Lincoln can be seen at Animal Aide at 333 Talbot St, St. Thomas, by calling 519-633-3788 or by sending an email.
Lincoln is waiting just for you! Please don’t keep him waiting long.
